Joe Manganiello Says DCEU’s Deathstroke Standalone Movie Is Still Pushing Through

DC might seem to have its hands full with upcoming projects like Aquaman,Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 1984, but that doesn't mean that Warner Brothers has forgotten about that previously rumored Deathstroke movie.

Though he couldn't say much, DC Extended Universe Deathstroke star Joe Manganiello sat down in an interview with MTV during this year's San Diego Comic-Con International and assured fans that his Deathstroke standalone movie was still in the works over at Warner Brothers. The actor even made it clear that other people are working with him on the project and that he and his team are working to make sure the movie makes it to the big screen.

"I say it's in the works," Manganiello responded. "Because it is and there's nothing further. I can't say without speaking out of school. Cause, you know, I'm a part of a team, I'm a part of a locker room, you don't talk outside the locker room. But all I can say, for the hardcore fans, it's in the works. They want it, they want the character to happen, it's just when he happens."

Manganiello was rumored to appear as Deathstroke in Warner Brothers' Batman standalone, but things started changing after Ben Affleck decided to step down as the film's director and the studio had Matt Reeves take his place.

Instead, Manganiello made his debut as Deathstroke in Justice League's post-credits scene, meeting up with Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor to start forming the Legion of Doom. Exciting as it might sound, the uncertainty of the Justice League franchise leaves the Legion of Doom's future up in the air as well.

The Deathstroke solo does sound like it has more hope – though things could change depending on what happens to the DCEU.

Aquaman premieres December 21, 2018.
