Constellation episode 4 titled The Left Hand of God brings Jo's family together. However, this episode also happens to be where her husband, Magnus, questions whether she had an affair with her colleague, Frederick, or not.

Jo, with her distorted memories, does not remember nor would she ever think of cheating on her husband.

To Magnus, though, Jo and Frederick seemed close. There was always tension between these two, despite being mere co-workers.

When Jo and Frederick share a private moment in an office, Jo is taken aback by how differently her colleague is acting around her.

As it turns out, Frederick remembers having an affair with Jo (and believes he still is, as he confessed). But wait a minute, what does this mean? How come Jo doesn't have those memories?

When Magnus confronts Frederick if he had an affair with his wife, Frederick gives a straight answer, "Yes."

Because of this, Magnus is convinced that Jo has been lying about having distorted memories. To Jo, though, these memories somehow don't exist in her mind or timeline. So, how did this happen?

The most that we can conclude is that there may have been some form of intersection, where the paths of the "main" Jo we follow in the series have crossed with a different Jo from another reality. The Jo who committed the affair.

This can be speculated, especially when Jo dreamt of her own funeral in episode 3, wherein the alternate version of Jo may have swapped places with the messed up timeline of the "main" Jo.

Then again, perhaps we'll get to find out more once the next episodes get released. Take note that Jo has gotten more evidence recorded in tape about a female cosmonaut's mysterious death.

Meanwhile, the first four episodes of Constellation are available to stream on Apple TV+.
