J.J. Abrams Signs Exclusive Multi-Year Deal With WarnerMedia

Well, it looks like J.J. Abrams' Star Wars future isn't going to last long as the acclaimed director has signed an exclusive deal with WarnerMedia. While he is expected to finish his Lucasfilm commitments, it looks like Abrams' future is going to revolve around Warner Bros and their franchises for a while. Expect rumors of him working on a DC movie to come out soon since us fans tend to think that way.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news, revealing that Abrams will be with Warner Media until 2024, so that's a solid five years. His work will include movies, shows, and video games, among other things, though no properties were mentioned as part of this deal. Knowing Abrams, he will probably produce some original sci-fi projects and maybe direct a big franchise from DC or Harry Potter. Whatever is big in Warner Bros.

This is a big get for WarnerMedia, especially with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming out in a few months. Depending on the critical reception, Abrams will be known for working on two Star Wars movies, which is always something you want on your resume. Most people would consider The Force Awakens to be the best of this current trilogy, but that's because they're butthurt over The Last Jedi.

DC jokes aside, it would be fun seeing what Abrams can do for the many franchises under Warner Bros, including DC stuff. He would do wonders for an Adam Strange film or, God forbid, a Superman movie. Only time will tell if he gets the chance to sink his claws into these characters.

What are your thoughts on J.J. Abrams working with WarnerMedia for the foreseeable future?

J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be in cinemas on December 20.
