J.J. Abrams Feels 'Infinitely Better' Working on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Compared to The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be the second Star Wars movie from director J.J. Abrams, who also acted as producer for The Last Jedi. Considering how this is the last movie in the current trilogy and is expected to end the Skywalker Saga, many of us would assume that the director would be pretty nervous about how this movie will turn out. While he is feeling some pressure, Abrams admitted that he was much more stressed when making The Force Awakens.

Let's be honest, that makes a ton of sense.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams admitted that there was more pressure when making The Force Awakens since they were introducing characters for the first time and they were worried about fans not liking them. Now that the characters are established and they are planning to end the story, he feels "infinitely better" about working on this film.

We had more reshoots on Episode VII than this one. We had more story adjustments on VII than this one. We didn't know if these characters would work, if the actors would be able to carry a Star Wars movie. There were a lot of things we didn't know. On this, we knew who and what worked, and everyone is doing the best work I've ever seen anyone do. But the ambition of this movie is far greater than Force Awakens. What we set out to do was far more challenging. Everything is exponentially larger on this.

I can't imagine the kind of stress Abrams must have gone through for making the first new Star Wars film. Now that fans know who Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron are, Abrams probably had a more fun time working on The Rise of Skywalker. Here's hoping that all of his efforts have paid off.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
