Jimmy Kimmel just made everyone laugh as he hosted the 2023 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday, March 12, by making fun of the celebrities and referencing Will Smith's famous slap last year.

Aside from being a host, the 55-year-old star is also a comedian, writer, and producer. He has been the host and producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! since 2003.

He, too, hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012, 2016, and 2020 and Academy Awards in 2017, 2018, and 2023.

Before he made it big on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he used to be the co-host of The Man Show and Win Ben Stein's Money on Comedy Central.

Jimmy Kimmel Hosts the 2023 Oscars

Kimmel opened the 2023 Oscars with a funny opening monologue, referring to some of the A-list stars in the crowd.

He started with Nicole Kidman, saying the actress had been finally "released from that abandoned AMC," referencing her meme'd ad.

He also targeted Seth Rogen and Steven Spielberg, quipping they were the "Joe and Hunter Biden of Hollywood."

In addition, though Smith wasn't in the crowd after being imposed with a 10-year ban at the Oscars for slapping Chris Rock last year, he still referred to the infamous incident.

He cited the five Irish actors nominated for the night as an example, joking that "the odds of another fight on stage just went way up."

He then assured everyone that stricter policies had been implemented in case another potential on-stage fight happened.

"If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point during the show, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor," he said, referencing how Smith won an award after the slap. "And if any of you get mad at a joke and decide you want to come up here and get jiggy with it, it's not going to be easy."
