Jim Carrey Will Do The Mask Sequel Under One Condition

There is little doubt that Jim Carrey is known for playing several memorable characters but we still know and love him as the rubber-faced Stanley Ipkiss in The Mask. So what are the chances that the comedian would reprise his role in a new movie about the comic book hero? Carrey admitted that he's willing to do it but only under one condition.

Carrey recently spoke to Comicbook.com while promoting his new film Sonic the Hedgehog and interestingly, the In Living Color alum stated that he doesn't really consider doing sequels.

"I don't think in terms of sequels and stuff like that, I mean, this one [Sonic The Hedgehog] is kind of right for it because we have not evolved the character [Dr. Eggman] fully yet," Carrey said. However, he did offer some hope for fans who are hoping to see him return as Stanley.

"The Mask I think, myself, you know, it would depend on a filmmaker. It depends on a filmmaker really," Carrey said. "I don't want to do it just to do it. But I would only do it if it was some crazy visionary filmmaker. Sure."

This is exciting news for fans who believe that Carrey should continue playing Stanley. We're not sure yet if this would mean a reboot or a sequel to The Mask. Nevertheless, we're glad to know that he's open to the possibility.

Carrey will play Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog, which is scheduled for release on February 14.
