One actor who shared disappointment with Smith's actions is Golden Globe award winner, Jim Carrey. Carrey has made a successful career out of being a comedian much like Chris Rock, starring in several comedy films like The Mask, The Grinch, Dumb and Dumber, and even highlighted his versatility as an actor starring in different genres like Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, The Number 23, and The Truman Show, which he won Golden Globes Best Actor.

Will Smith has faced the consequences of slapping Chris Rock not just in front of his fellow nominees but also on live TV. Smith, who was nominated for his latest film King Richard won the Best Actor category and also took the time to tearfully apologize for the meltdown, which received a standing ovation from the crowd.

In an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Carrey took a shot on Will Smith's 'spineless' behavior, and that he was 'sickened' by the standing ovation, saying "a really clear indication that we're not the cool club anymore."

The host, Gayle King stated, “If anyone else had walked from the audience and done that, they would’ve been escorted out by security or maybe even arrested," to which the actor totally agreed, “He should have been.”

Talking about Rock's refusal to press charges for Smith, Carrey said, “I would have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200m because that video is going to be there forever.”

“If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter, you do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face ‘cos they said words.” Carrey added.

Carrey concluded, “I don’t have anything against Will Smith. He’s done great things. But that was not a good moment. It cast a pall over everybody’s shining moment.”

Will Smith had already issued a public apology for Chris Rock in Smith's Instagram post, and Rock persisted in not pressing charges against the actor.

Jada Pinkett Smith, on the other hand, posted a cryptic Instagram image captioned, "This is a season of healing and I'm here for it."

Carrey's comments about Will Smith add fuel to the fire, as the actor made a living similar to Chris Rock. Everyone in Hollywood has their opinion about the slapping incident, mentioning Zoë Kravitz's Instagram post flaunting her look at the Oscars with the caption, "and here is a picture of my dress at the party after the award show -where we are apparently screaming profanities and assaulting people on stage now." Everyone might remain silent, but some actors are unquestionably vocal over Will Smith's disheartening behavior.
