According to his Wikipedia page, Jharrel Jerome isn’t only an actor but also a rapper. His first acting credit came in 2016 through the independent movie Moonlight.
Despite being new in the business, A.O. Scott praised him and said he was excellent in the role in an article in The New York Times.
From there, he was seen in Mr. Mercedes and When They See Us. His other projects are Robu, the short Hotel Splendid and another upcoming short, Venture, per his IMDb page.
Music-wise, he dropped the song “For Real” ft. Kemba in September 2020, marking his first single as a hip-hop artist.
Though he said he didn’t plan to turn his rap hobby into a career, he decided to hone his talent after finding his “sound, voice, cadence and style.”

Jharrel Jerome Leads Salvatore Ferragamo Campaign
Jharrel Jerome was tapped to lead the ad campaign for Salvatore Ferragamo earlier this year.
But before he received a call from his managers to do this gig, he admitted he had never been inside the lavish brand’s boutique.
However, he said he had always admired the Ferragamo aesthetic.
“I was a big fan of all the photos I’d seen, and all of the billboards and models that would wear those clothes,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “There was such an elegance to [them].”

He then talked about his style, which might not sit well with the Italian fashion house.
“The style that I wear is more hip hop and streetwear,” he added. “So, I’m not used to that elegance.”
Jharrel Jerome continued that the 1990s hip hop had heavily influenced his style. In fact, he felt best wearing “a dope hoodie, a graphic shirt and some baggy sweats.”
What’s Next for Jharrel Jerome
So, what’s next for Jharrel Jerom after being the new face of Salvatore Ferragamo?
“A couple of things are definitely in the pot stirring. Just waiting to go shoot, God-willing that everything with COVID gets better,” he also told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m about to go to New Orleans to shoot an Amazon project with Boots Riley called I’m a Virgo. It’s gonna be an epic journey where I’ll be playing a 13-foot tall man from Oakland.”
He described the project as “very different, quirky but important.”
“It’s an incredible project about social issues that we don’t often speak about in film, so I’m very excited. I also have new music coming out,” he continued. “I released a song about a year and a half ago that got a lot of good reception, and so I am now partnered with RCA the label and I’ll be releasing music sometime this year.”
