Marvel fans are on their toes as the Netflix series Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, and ABC series Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD arrived on Disney Plus and this would be the very first time that the streaming platform would have an extremely adult set of content in the history of their service. For Krysten Ritter, this is an opportunity and she even called her character a Disney Princess.
Krysten Ritter took it to Instagram to celebrate the arrival of her series, Jessica Jones, on Disney Plus and she did it in a way that she felt like royalty, “Guess who's a Disney princess now? Go (re)watch @marvelsjessicajones now streaming on her new home, @disneyplus #jessicajones” Included in the post is her photo as Jessica Jones and the star has the best reaction to her character’s arrival on the streaming platform.
As the shows Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, left Netflix during the start of the month, the titles found a new home on Disney Plus where streaming started on March 16, 2022.
This sparked the hope of the fans that these shows would now be considered as canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after the debut of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and his nemesis, Kingpin, in the franchise. While there is no confirmation yet whether they would be included in the long roster of the MCU, jumping on Disney Plus could be the first step in doing so.
Considering that these characters have already been established, the MCU need not have to make a re-do of all their stories and all they have to do is figure out where these heroes would fit into the timeline. It is not impossible, right? The narrative of the fourth phase of the MCU focuses on either passing the baton, exploring the multiverse, or introducing new characters. The timing is perfect for these heroes.
