Jessica Jones Star Krsten Ritter Is Making Her Directorial Debut In Season 3

Krysten Ritter won't just be kicking butt on the small screen when she reprises her role as Marvel TV's trash talking super-powered detective in Jessica Jones season 3 – she'll also be directing her own episodes in the series.

According to a new report by Deadline, season 3 of Jessica Jones has just started filming in New York and it looks like Ritter's going to take the lead behind the camera for an episode with details currently being kept under the wraps by Marvel TV. This is going to be the very first time Ritter directs an episode on her own and the Marvel star gushed about the opportunity given to her in a statement about her new role as episode director.

"I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel'sJessica Jones. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I'm so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins."

Though this is obviously Ritter's first time at directing, it isn't unusual for lead actor or actress to eventually try a hand at directing an episode in their very own series. It usually happens to shows that have aired for so many seasons – Bryan Cranston did it in season 5 of Breaking Bad, Hugh Laurie directed an episode on season 6 of House and Neil Patrick Harris got his shot at directing during the fifth season of How I Met Your Mother.

We're definitely excited to see how Ritter is going to fair and whether this directorial debut will take her places behind the camera.

Jessica Jones season 3 is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2019.
