Marvel fans were devastated when Netflix slowly began canceling its Marvel TV offerings last year. The streaming giant first axed Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Then, it decided to cancel Daredevil, one of its strongest, most popular, and critically acclaimed Marvel Netflix series. Not long after, Netflix also decided to cancel out The Defenders, The Punisher, and Jessica Jones.
While most fans continue to hope that these shows find a new home in a new streaming platform ( say Hulu, or possibly Disney's upcoming site, Disney+) Netflix has made it clear that a clause in its contract with Marvel TV prevents Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, The Defenders, The Punisher, and Jessica Jones from transferring to another network until after two years since the cancellation.
Some might be willing to wait, but according to a new report by Indie Wire, it might actually take longer to revive the different Marvel Netflix series. The publication attended Avengers: Endgame's Hollywood premiere in Los Angeles earlier this week and spoke with a production executive who told the reports that Disney has actually been warned by lawyers against developing content featuring the different heroes in the series until the two year period completes.
If this is true, then Disney will have to wait for two years before developing anything. This means that fans will have to wait for another year or two before they can see Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist on the small screen again.
Are you willing to wait that long for your favorite Marvel TV series? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment below.
Marvel's newest film, Avengers: Endgame, is set for release tomorrow, April 26.
