Surprise surprise, X-Men: Dark Phoenix has a villain that can take on the whole team and it's not Jean Grey but the mysterious new character played by Jessica Chastain. Finding out that there is a powerful villain in a superhero movie is like realizing that water is wet but it will be interesting seeing just how powerful Chastain's character is.
During a presentation for Dark Phoenix at CCXP in Sao Paulo, Chastain revealed that she would be taking on the entirety of the X-Men in one scene but didn't elaborate on it. Since nobody knows who her character is, we're all hoping that she's somebody from the comics, though there's always the possibility of it being a brand-new villain made for the film.
While powerful villains are needed to give our heroes a threat to fight against, we just saw this group of X-Men take on Apocalypse in, well, X-Men: Apocalypse. Why a new powerful baddie should surprise anyone is kinda dumb and we already know that they will have to take on Jean's alter ego in addition to Chastain's character. She better be someone cool.
Rumors have stated that she could be a shapeshifting alien, which led many to assume that she would be a Skrull. Of course, Captain Marvel will be introducing Skrulls and Kree to the MCU soon and fans will start comparing them, which won't be good for anyone.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix comes out on June 2019.
