During a Q&A session at his recent appearance at Comic-Con Liverpool, Jeremy Renner was asked whether he will make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
He confirmed that he won't be returning as Hawkeye in the upcoming MCU event film. He also jokingly suggested that the Avengers might lose due to his absence, similar to what happened in Infinity War, where he was also not present.
"No, no, no, no. Not in that one. Doomsday, I'm not in, so the Avengers will probably lose, just so you know… they didn't call me, so it's their fault they're going to lose," the actor said.
While Renner made a confirmation to the crowd that he won't be part of the next MCU movie, some fans have also cautioned that he might be lying and that he had to keep his alleged appearance under wraps given the project's secretive nature.
However, given that there was a previous precedent for Clint Barton not to show up in an Avengers movie, it's not out of the realm of possibility for Renner to be absent in the upcoming film. Instead, he might return in Secret Wars, where it is expected to be a major crossover of the MCU multiverse.
