  • Quick Answer: Rumored leaks hint at a glowing Doctor Doom popcorn bucket for Avengers: Doomsday, but official theater chains have not verified if the design is real.

Not every MCU movie has a popcorn bucket, but Marvel Studios seems determined to ensure the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will have the best one yet.

Ryan Reynolds seemingly started “The War of the Popcorn Buckets” in 2024 with his and Hugh Jackman’s viral, intentionally lewd Wolverine-themed head/mouth popcorn bucket for their movie Deadpool & Wolverine, following the viral sensation caused by the Dune: Part Two sandworm bucket earlier that year.

As Marvel has heavily embraced the trend with its massive releases, here’s what the Doomsday popcorn bucket looks like.

While older MCU films came with standard promotional metal tins and plastic character cups, Deadpool & Wolverine marked the first time Marvel Studios specifically designed an absurd, custom-sculpted popcorn bucket to compete in the viral internet merchandise space.

After the 2024 film, the next popcorn bucket releases were for Captain America: Brave New World (a collapsible Captain America shield popcorn tub), The Fantastic Four: First Steps (a massive Galactus head bucket and a Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic-themed bucket), and Avengers: Endgame Encore (an Iron Man helmet popcorn bucket that projects an “I love you 3,000” message, as well as an Infinity Gauntlet LED popcorn bucket).

This time, according to Cinemark, the Avengers: Doomsday popcorn bucket features a pair of glowing green eyes that may open to reveal the popcorn, paired with a drink cup that shows Doctor Doom sitting on his throne, with a green glow at the back and an “A” Avengers logo on top.

However, while these designs are said to come from the theater chain, it has yet to be confirmed whether they are real or AI-generated.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official reveal from Marvel or Cinemark to know whether these unusual Doomsday collectibles are the real deal.

Avengers: Doomsday will once again see the fan-favorite Marvel superheroes assembling to fight a common enemy.

This time, three distinct universes – Earth-616 (the main MCU), Earth-828 (The Fantastic Four), and Earth-10005 (the Fox X-Men universe) – will come together as a deadly collision course approaches, forcing them to face an existential threat unlike anything they have encountered before.

Here, the Fantastic Four will team up with various Marvel superheroes to stop the mysterious villain trying to destroy their timelines. They will eventually learn that this big bad is a familiar heroic face who turned evil in the multiverse: Doctor Doom.

Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as Thor, leading the newly assembled team to face Doom. It will also see the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, who will miraculously show up after his exit in Avengers: Endgame.

With so many heroes and universes colliding, Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the MCU’s biggest multiversal events yet.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
