It looks like the Avenging Archer will have a hard time holding his quiver for a while. Jon Hamm recently revealed that Jeremy Renner broke both of his arms during the filming of Tag, which they both star in. This apparently happened some time ago and has lead many to believe that this is why he didn't appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
Hamm revealed the news during an episode of Ellen, revealing that it happened during the third day of production and that they had 40 more days to go after that. Both arms broke at the same time, which surprised the Mad Men actor since Renner has starred in multiple action-packed films like the Mission Impossible series, along with his Avengers work.
Renner never mentioned this during the build-up to Infinity War, though if this is the reason why he wasn't in it, we can more than understand his absence. The actor was able to shoot scenes for the still-untitled Avengers 4, so it looks like he was able to recover in time for the sequel.
Injuries can happen at the oddest times. WWE superstar Neville once broke his foot during a baseball slide, even though he has done hundreds of high-flying maneuvers. While Hamm does not mention how Renner broke his arms, it was probably very painful.
Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
