Jennifer Lopez Got Candid About Her Break Up With Ben Affleck In 2004
JLo and the Argo star are proof of second chances. They were engaged in November 2002 but called off their wedding in 2004.
They reconciled in 2021 after she called off her engagement to Alex Rodriguez. The couple, dubbed Bennifer, are now happily married 18 years after they called it quits.
Lopez looked back at how her love story with Affleck unfolded. She admitted that she thought she would die after losing him.
Affleck married Jennifer Garner after their split. She also moved on with Marc Anthony.
"It was so painful after we broke up," he told Zane Lowe when she appeared on Apple Music 1. "Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die."
"It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn’t get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most ‘would never happen in Hollywood’ ending."
She revisited their romance 20 years ago as she promoted her new album This Is Me...Now, an updated play of her 2002 album inspired by Affleck, This Is Me...Then.
"We captured me at this moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided we were going to be together forever," the Marry Me star explained. "The whole message of the album is, ‘This love exists. This is a real love.'"
Jennifer Lopez Is Sure That She And Ben Affleck Will Not Separate Again
JLo's first husband, Ojani Noa, doubted that her marriage to Ben Affleck would work. According to Noa, the Batman star is Lopez's "husband number four," and he doubts that she will settle.
"I think she’s someone who will be married seven or eight times. I can’t see her ever settling down with one person. She pushes herself to constantly go forward in her professional life, which is why she’s had a three-decade career, but she also moves on in her private life," Noa claimed.

However, Lopez is certain about her future with Affleck. According to her, they won't get back together if they will separate.
"I don't think we would have got back together if we thought that was where it was headed," Lopez told Rolling Stone in February. "We feel like what we found again is so much more important, and how we protect that and how we live our lives — what to share, what not to share — is the balance that we have now, the benefit of experience and the wisdom that we gained over the years."
