The actress shared that this was the first time she opened up about the scary event to the public.

The clip shares that it was supposed to be "a vacation of a lifetime" while showing pictures of what appears to be Serengeti's coastlines and wild animals.
In the next part of the footage, a woman frantically screams for help as she looks over a balcony railing where another woman lay on the ground. The voiceover then says that Lewis was "inches away from losing her life."
In the clip, GMA host, Robin Roberts, asks the famed actress whether she thought she would die. Lewis answers:
"I did. I did not know you could be in that much pain and be alive."
Roberts then asks her how she managed to keep her accident a secret from the public. The Blackish actress also shared that the accident humbled her and that she has to "earn being alive."

What Was Jenifer Lewis' Injury That Almost Killed Her?
As of this writing, the GMA interview has not yet aired so details about Jenifer Lewis' injury are scarce. From what was shared in the Instagram post, Lewis fell off a balcony and injured her leg.
She shared:
"I went from that high kick standing on my star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Five months later, I was on the ground of the Serengeti. And that same leg couldn't move."
