Matt Reeves' The Batman is one of the most anticipated films to arrive next year, but production has been on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. The movie is still mostly shrouded in mystery, but actor Jeffrey Wright offers fans some more details, even calling The Batman the "next evolution."

In a recent appearance on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, Wright, who plays the role of Commissioner James Gordon, shared some more information about The Batman, but is careful to not give away too much. "My take is — the way I explain what we're doing is, like with any film, we're working together to create a mood, to create an idea, a setting, a tone," Wright said. "This is the next evolution since 1939 when these stories began."

"This is the next evolution of Gotham," he added. Wright says he is working off of what Reeves is providing as well as what Robert Pattinson is doing in creating something of their own but is also Batman.

The actor also teased the Batmobile, saying that he has already read it and is the "most badass muscle you could imagine." Pointing out that it's "grounded" in Gotham and in Americana.

Based on his comments and some previous teases on the film, The Batman is expected to have an entirely unique take on the character but is still sticking to what the Dark Knight is known for. Needless to say, fans are already excited about the movie. Though they'd have to wait a bit longer, with the movie's release being pushed from Summer 2021 to October 2021.
