Jay Baruchel Says How To Train Your Dragon 3 Is The Strongest Story In The Trilogy

How to Train Your Dragon 2 came out in 2014, and though we haven't been hearing much news about it, a third movie is definitely in the works. Jay Baruchel, who voices Hiccup in the series, has given an update on How to Train Your Dragon 3, and he calls it the "strongest" story of the trilogy.

Talking to the JoBlo Movie Show podcast, Baruchel explains:

"I'm not allowed to say anything. This is what I'll say, and for whatever it's worth I do swear that this is not just promo nonsense. It's by far, the strongest of the stories (of the 3). It's the movie that the series requires and deserves and it's the rightful third chapter or third act, I should say. I don't think anybody will be disappointed."

I'm actually quite shocked that the HTTYD franchise isn't getting that much attention, especially with the likes of Moana and Minions getting all the praise. I thought the first movie was pretty solid, and the second movie was just on a whole different level.

As for the progress of production, Baruchel says:

"I've already done a number of recording sessions for that one. Once every 2-4 months I will work for 2 hours and then that happens over the course of 3 years and then before I know it I'm at Cannes with a movie that people are like, ‘You don't understand! This movie is the most important thing in the world to me!' I felt like I fell ass-backwards into STAR WARS! It's really cool. We're well on the way to doing it. They take a lot of time to make so I don't know when it's coming, exactly."

The movie is still two years away, and fans are just curious from what to expect. It's still unclear on how far the timeline will jump when HTTYD 3 finally happens, but hopefully Hiccups journey as a dragon-riding Viking will come to a satisfying conclusion.

How to Train Your Dragon 3 is set for a release on March 1, 2019.
