DC and Warner Bros. are venturing into interactive storytelling with the upcoming release of their animated feature film Batman: Death in the Family. Now, our first look at the project which sorta serves as a spinoff to 2010's Batman: Under the Red Hood has just been unveiled and it gives Jason Todd's story arc a fresh new take and this time around, he transforms into someone else.

In the clip released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Jason Todd miraculously awakens from the nasty beating he took at the hands of the Clown Prince of Crime Joker, and nope, he isn't recovered by Ra's al Ghul like in the original. Instead, Todd wakes up at Wayne Manor where he finds Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, and Alfred who all seem relieved that he's safe. Little does the Bat-family know that the former Robin develops a feeling of hatred towards his mentor and as the clip ends, he officially becomes Hush, one of Batman's fiercest foes. Check it out here:

It may look like DC and Warner Bros. are milking the heck out of the iconic Batman storyline but from a fan perspective, it's something fresh and interesting, and dare I say, a welcome change. It's also amazing how it serves as a nod to the comic book event from the 80s where fans voted via phone to determine the fate of the second Robin. Now, they've offered us fans another way to reimagine the Batman: A Death in the Family arc and it guarantees us several possible endings which could potentially make their way into the comics canon somewhere down the line. Just think of it as an Elseworld adaptation but in animated film form. Isn't that exciting?

Batman: Death in the Family will be released on Blu-ray and Digital on October 13th!
