Jango And Boba Fett Are Not In The Least Bit Mandalorian

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is going to drop once Disney launches its upcoming streaming site Disney+ later this year, and the Star Wars series has fans thinking of the show's new Mandalorian hero and a possible connection to the iconic bounty hunter, Boba Fett.

However, unbeknownst to some Star Wars fans, Boba Fett isn't actually a Mandalorian fighter at all.

Screen Rant just recently reminded fans about Jango and Boba Fett's history, letting the Star Wars fanbase understand that while many expect to see connections to Boba Fett in The Mandalorian, the two bounty hunters were never Mandalorians.

Before Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Boba Fett and his father Jango were both assumed to be true Mandalorian warriors because of the iconic armor that they wore.

However, in Season 2 Episode 12 of The Clone Wars reveals otherwise. When Obi-Wan deduces the exact same thing that many fans do by calling Jango Fett a Mandalorian, he is sharply corrected. Heading to Mandalore to investigate "The Mandalore Plot," Obi-Wan objects to the proposition that "New Mandalore" is vastly different from its violent, warrior past, using Jango Fett as an example.

However, Obi-Wan is corrected by Prime Minister Almec who reveals that "Jango Fett was a common bounty hunter. How he acquired that armor is beyond me."

While some might not take this line of dialogue seriously, insisting on Jango and Boba Fett's Mandalorian heritage, fans ought to know that George Lucas himself was the one who made the decision to turn the two into ordinary bounty hunters.

Clone Wars director Dave Filoni has said time and time again that Lucas made it known to him that the Fetts weren't in the least bit Mandalorian despite the many stories that have blossomed from the expanded Star Wars universe.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set for release sometime in September this year.
