Jang Geun Suk Positively Reviewing To Join Cast of Coupang Play’s Chronicles of Crime

Jang Geun Suk is in talks to star in Coupang Play’s upcoming series Chronicles of Crime.

The 34-year-old star is courted to headline the cast of the crime series helmed by Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area and L.U.C.A.: The Beginning director Kim Hong Seon.

In an exclusive report cited by Osen, Jang Geun Suk has received the script and is positively considering the offer.

As of this writing, the officials are yet to reveal the character of the actor and the possible cast joining Chronicles of Crime.

Interestingly, if he officially accepts the offer, the Coupang Play’s new Kdrama will be Jang Geun Suk's comeback to the small screen after four years.

To recall, his last Kdrama appearance was the 2018 comedy thriller Switch: Change the World with Han Ye Ri and Jung Woong In as the main characters.

The said SBS Kdrama was also his last project before enlisting in the military service.

Jang Geun Suk is best known for his smash hit Kdramas like Beethoven Virus, You're Beautiful, Mary Stayed Out All Night, and Love Rain with Girls’ Generation’s YoonA.

In addition, he was also dubbed the “prince of Asia” because of his massive popularity, particularly in China and Japan.

He even became the first Hallyu actor to be featured on a Japanese stamp.

Jang Geun Suk Finishes his Mandatory Military Service

At 31, the actor enlisted in the military in July 2018 and has served as a public service worker at the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters.

After two years, he successfully completed his service and returned to his activities as a celebrity.

His first public appearance was at Arena Homme Plus magazine Korea, gracing the publication’s July 2020 issue.

At the time, he shared his experience in the military and his realizations as an actor.

During his interview, as obtained by Soompi, he got honest and said that the enlistment helped him take some time off and look back as he reflected on his past self.

He then confessed that it came to a point where he “want to delete the internet’s records” about himself adding “But if I delete those things, wouldn’t it be like erasing myself? I can’t erase my history.”

To recall, Jang Geun Suk was involved in a tax evasion case in 2015 and has said to have underreported his income.

Adding to the list of issues that he previously encountered was a scandal alongside EXO’s Kris with a Chinese actress.

In 2013, Soompi reported that a picture of what looks like Jang Geun Suk circulating on the internet where he was featured was sleeping next to model turned actress Lin Xi Ya.
