James Gunn's Sketch Teases Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Baby Groot Scene

Guardians of the Galaxy director/writer has been posting behind-the-scenes images from the set of Vol. 2 online, and although he's been open about the production of the highly-anticipated sequel, he's been secretive to keep fans guessing. For instance, this sketch of baby Groot that he just tweeted:

Gunn said on his Facebook page that he usually sketches every shot before he shoots: "I'll spread whole scenes over my office floor or all around the walls, sometimes hundreds of shots, and it will give me an idea of how the scene flows, what's smooth, what's jumbled, and even what works comedically."

Little Groot has grown some legs, and it seems that the tailed creature letting out an "Aaaah!" is Rocket Raccoon. Now, it's time for fans to speculate how this sketch will play on film.

"Many of them are messy and it's impossible for anyone other than me to tell what they are. Some of them get turned over to accomplished storyboard artists to flesh out. Some of them go directly to our pre-visualization team to turn into animated storyboards. And others just stay in their primitive state," he posted.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters on May 5, 2017.
