James Gunn Wants to Do Peacemaker Season 2

We still have to wait a few months for the Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker but it looks like James Gunn is already looking further into the future. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 directors have just revealed plans for Peacemaker Season 2.

It's no secret that Gunn is a man with many brilliant ideas. After all, he came up with the plan for Peacemaker while working on The Suicide Squad. Interestingly, the upcoming HBO Max series seems to be the one thing that Gunn wants to keep working on in the next few years.

Gunn was recently a guest on the Happy Sad Confusedpodcast where he admitted that he has considered working on a series that focused on the Ravagers. He even mentioned the idea to Marvel boss Kevin Feige and it could have brought back Sylvester Stallone. However, Gunn also pointed out that a Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off show hasn't been updated yet and besides, he has a lot of things to do.

"The truth is, I'm awful busy," Gunn said. "I want to do a Peacemaker Season 2 so that's the only thing I'm committed to if it happens right now."

This isn't a huge surprise considering that Warner Bros. executive Walter Hamada had previously confirmed that Gunn will work on another DC project. On the other hand, there is a possibility that the project Hamada was referring to is not the second season of the John Cena series. Instead, this could be a completely different new film. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The Suicide Squad will hit theaters and HBO Max on August 5, 2021. The first season of Peacemaker will premiere on the streaming service on January 15, 2022.
