Since being teased in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the grand arrival of Adam Warlock to the franchise and the general belief amongst MCU diehards is that the powerful character will finally be making his debut in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Director James Gunn has been quiet about it for the longest time but after rumors circulated this week that the film is looking to cast a "Zack Efron-type" actor to play the role, Gunn couldn't help but break his silence and debunk the reports claiming that they're looking to add Warlock to the sequel.
Gunn didn't exactly deny Adam Warlock's involvement in the film so it's still pretty safe to assume that he's actually part of the plan. Now, following the confirmation, comedian Seth Rogen seemingly expressed his desire to join the billion-dollar franchise and play the character in the upcoming project. Replying to Gunn's tweet, Rogen said that he could be the "Zac Efron-type" they're looking for.
However, as much as Gunn would love to have him on board, the director immediately turned down Rogen's application, claiming that he's too much of a Zac Efron than the actual Zac Efron himself. Check out the wacky exchange here:
Rogen might be the last person who would come to mind to play a hero or villain in a Marvel movie but quite frankly, we shouldn't be underestimating Hollywood's comedic actors. Remember that guys like Paul Rudd and GOTG's very own Chris Pratt started off as comedians but they ultimately found a great deal of success in the MCU as Ant-Man and Star-Lord respectively so yeah, before you shoot down the idea, think about Marvel Studios' track record first.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is slated for release in 2022.
