We already know that John Cena will star in the upcoming Peacemaker series. However, it looks like Peacemaker isn't the only member of Task Force X who will appear in the Suicide Squad spin-off show. James Gunn has just teased that we'll be seeing another secret character in his upcoming project.
The Peacemaker series might be a Suicide Squad spin-off show but it is also set to be an origin story for Cena's character. This would mean that we will not be seeing the rest of Task Force X in the HBO Max project. However, Gunn may have confirmed that we'll see another familiar face next year.
Gunn recently hosted a Suicide Squad watch party with the cast members and he answered a few fan questions on Twitter. One fan asked about the characters who will appear in Peacemaker and the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director revealed something new about the cast.
"Peacemaker, Emilia Harcourt, John Economos, and, well, heck maybe one more," Gunn wrote before adding the hashtag #TSSWatchParty.
It has already been confirmed that Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee will return as Harcourt and Economos, respectively. This suggests that we'll get to see how Peacemaker ends up in Belle Reve. From there, it is possible that his actions are noticed by the one person who created Task Force X in the first place: Amanda Waller.
The idea of Viola Davis being a part of Peacemaker is an exciting one since she is the most important character in The Suicide Squad. He is the one who rounded up the members of Task Force X in the first place and was later revealed in The Suicide Squad to have given the Peacemaker a different mission.
For now, it has not yet been revealed whether Davis will reprise her role as Waller in Peacemaker. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Peacemaker has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
