We already know that Howard the Duck is alive and well, thanks to his unexpected cameo in Avengers: Endgame. But could this mean we'll see more of the beloved character in the future? James Gunn has just teased on Howard's possible return but it won't be in a Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. Instead, the filmmaker joked that Howard will have a surprise appearance in ... The Suicide Squad?
A fan recently reached out to Gunn on Twitter begging the director to include Deathstroke in The Suicide Squad. Unfortunately, Gunn stated that it would be too late for such requests since the DC Extended Universe movie only has a month left of filming. This led to another fan asking if a Howard the Duck cameo can be squeezed into the movie. Take a look at Gunn's response below.
"Putting Howard in at the last minute is my specialty," Gunn wrote.
Of course, Gunn is simply joking about the whole thing. After all, he can't just add Howard into The Suicide Squad considering that Howard exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that Gunn is actually referring to his upcoming MCU flick Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and not Suicide Squad. With that in mind, we're keeping our eyes peeled for a Howard cameo in Vol. 3.
Gunn is currently working on The Suicide Squad, which will bring back Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. The film is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
