James Gunn Sheds Light On Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Alpha Groot

Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel might have teased Alpha Groot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 during an interview with the press, but it looks like director James Gunn doesn't think that Alpha Groot really is going to be a thing for the upcoming movie.

Gunn might be busy working on the production of the DC Extended Universe's The Suicide Squad sequel reboot, however, the filmmaker takes time to address Marvel fans' inquiries about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Taking to Twitter, the director decides to address fans questions about Alpha Groot. Fans couldn't quite understand what Diesel meant when he meant that Marvel fans ought to expect Alpha Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and these fans decided to take their confusion to Gunn.

Responding to the posts, it seems like Gunn isn't quite sure what an Alpha Groot actually is either.

"Haha no idea. Maybe he just means the most awesome Groot ever?" the director wrote in a tweet responding to fans questions about Alpha Groot.

"I think he was talking about what he imagined the future Groot to be (he hasn't read the script). And yes, they're a different being," Gunn told a different fan.

When Diesel first teased Alpha Groot, we thought that our favorite Twig would turn into a massive version of himself in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Now, based on Gunn's responses, it seems like Alpha Groot is just the very best version of Groot that we'll get to see in the third Guardians movie.

It's such a shame. We were really excited too.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has yet to receive a complete release date from Disney. We'll update fans as soon as we get word.
