True blue fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy films are well aware that the franchise is loaded with easter eggs and pop culture references. Arguably the most notable of them all is Star-Lord's mega obsession with Footloose (both the iconic film and the song) and its lead star Kevin Bacon whom Peter Quill pretty much worships and considers as one of his personal heroes.
It's no secret to avid supporters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the Hollywood legend is a huge fan of the GOTG films and he has even gushed about the fact that the first film references him several times in the past. Now, in a new interview with Esquire, the Hollow Man actor expressed his interest in joining the franchise. Admittedly a massive fan of the Marvel universe, Kevin said: "Listen, I love the idea. I would love to be part of that."
Some people may not be aware of this bit but Bacon has previously worked with director James Gunn in the 2010 film Super and the director had nothing but high praises to say about the actor and that time they shared a project together. In a recent tweet, while seemingly implying that he's down with the idea of casting Bacon for the third GOTG flick. He wrote: "Loved working with him on SUPER & can't wait till we can work together again." Check it out here:
The official screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has already been finalized but considering the film is still in its pre-production stages, Gunn and his crew could easily squeeze in at least a Kevin Bacon cameo in Vol. 3. I mean, just imagine an epic encounter between Quill and his childhood hero which is decades in the making. That would be really cool to see, not to mention meta as heck. Pull the trigger already!
