Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date yet but the movie is expected to come out in the next few years, giving a proper finale to Star-Lord, Rocket, and the others. It seems like this will really be the finale for this beloved Marvel property, though Drax actor Dave Bautista did reveal that Gunn pitched a spinoff movie about Drax the Destroyer and Mantis.

On Twitter, Gunn confirmed the pitch and says that this Drax/Mantis movie hasn't been ruled out yet. This could be very good news since fans do love these characters and seeing them alone would provide a new dynamic we aren't used to yet. The real question is if they'll just stay friends or end up becoming romantic since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did tease Drax having feelings for her.

While Gunn did acknowledge the project, he didn't say if he would be directing it. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a movie that he produces/writes, while someone else ends up directing it. This is assuming that the movie is even going to happen as we're going to assume that Marvel Studios already has a number of films planned for production.

Then again, this could be a Disney+ series ala WandaVision or Falcon and Winter Soldier.

No release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been announced. The Drax/Mantis movie isn't official yet.
