James Gunn and Peter Safran have begun their duties as co-leaders of the revamped DC Studios and over the last couple of weeks, we've already established that the duo means business. Gunn, who's quite active on social media has been teasing fans with cryptic posts that have led to several speculations regarding the future of the DC Universe.
Gunn has proven how in touch he is with the fandom and it turns out, they want to see one particular hero join the DCU sooner rather than later. On Twitter, the Marvel and DC director revealed that Booster Gold was the most requested character fans wanted to see debut in the new DCU, something that he admittedly found "fascinating".
He wrote: "Interestingly, Booster was the MOST requested character when I asked people on Mastodon what character they'd most like to see on screen. I'm not creating stories by public vote, but I found it fascinating nevertheless."
For the uninitiated, Booster Gold aka Michael Jon Carter is a football player-turned-accidental-superhero from the 25th century. After stealing advanced technology from his timeline, he found himself in the 20th century becoming a bonafide hero after saving US President Ronald Reagan. He's also one of the key members of the Justice League.

With Blue Beetle set for his DCU debut soon, it would make absolute sense for Booster Gold to follow suit given their rich comic book history together. I gotta say though, Gunn and Safran must first turn their attention to the franchise's already-established characters that need more creative focus before incorporating new faces into the fold. Well, I'm pretty sure that's their MO anyway.
Meanwhile, Black Adam is already available via Amazon Video and iTunes. Its DVD and Blu-ray release date is set for January 3, 2023.
