Marvel and DC have always been deemed by many fans to be rivals in the world of comic books, film, and television and while that may be true to some extent, there are still people who are actually toying with the idea of the two media giants going head-to-head in a dream crossover. Apparently, MCU and DCEU director James Gunn has been down with the idea for quite some time now and he even revealed his desire of doing a crossover film on social media.

During his usual rounds of Q&A with fans on Twitter, the director who helms both Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad franchises revealed that he actually talked to both Marvel and DC "casually" about the idea and while he didn't exactly get into detail about his plans, even he admitted that the chances of it happening in the near future are pretty slim.

Responding to a fan who asked him if he thinks a Marvel vs DC crossover could take place on the big screen, he said: "I've casually talked to the powers-that-be at both Marvel & DC about it. I would love for it to happen. I don't think it's likely, but I don't think it's an impossibility either. THAT SAID, just constantly seeing crossovers & mashups is less enchanting to me than a strong story."

Honestly, it would take a miracle for a Marvel-DC crossover to happen considering the fact that they're currently owned by two separate companies. Still, the idea of it taking place on the big screen sounds too massive and appealing and will undoubtedly bring in unprecedented box office returns. Imagine the Avengers and Justice League going at it in an epic clash. That would be nerdgasm at its finest.

Meanwhile, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad hits cinemas and HBO Max this August.
