A lot of jaws dropped when it was reported last week that several DC Universe projects will no longer be moving forward, including Wonder Woman 3 which has long received the green light from Warner Bros. even before the whole merger with Discovery was finalized.

According to a report from Deadline, director Patty Jenkins had major disagreements with WB after she was requested to make changes to the film's script, resulting in her allegedly walking away from the sequel entirely. If you'd ask Jenkins, there's zero truth to the reports surrounding her decision to exit the project.

Taking to Twitter, the 51-year-old filmmaker finally broke her silence and refuted the ongoing reports that she called "inaccurate", saying that she never abandoned the project and was open to considering anything that was requested of her.

While Jenkins didn't namedrop DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, the DCU director responded to her bombshell statement, saying: "I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional."

Gunn's response comes on the heels of reports claiming that Jenkins walked out after being requested to rework her screenplay for the supposed sequel. As it stands, we still don't know if Warner Bros. Discovery actually accepted her withdrawal from the film but it's worth noting that Gunn and Safran are presenting their long-term plans for the DCU this week

The status of the project remains shrouded in mystery but hopefully, cooler heads will prevail in the end and all parties involved will be able to come to an agreement to renew their ties. After all, Jenkins deserves to redeem herself after Wonder Woman 1984 failed to hit the mark with fans and critics.

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 are available to stream on HBO Max.
