It's been months since Henry Cavill officially confirmed that he's no longer playing Superman in the DC Universe but fans are still reeling over his shocking exit, especially after Cavill himself announced that he was returning to the franchise full-time following his Black Adam cameo.

Since then, fans have constantly targeted DC Studios co-head James Gunn, blaming the newly appointed executive for removing the British star who pretty much helped kickstart the franchise a full decade ago along with director Zack Snyder.

With the seemingly neverending backlash the beloved director has been receiving on social media, Gunn remains unfazed as he and Peter Safran craft a brand new chapter for the DCU.

On Instagram, an infuriated fan left a harsh comment and what was supposed to be an innocent post where Gunn showed off his adorable cat. User @edgedmoon1141 angrily wrote: "F*** your cat dude. You pissed off an entire franchise worth of fans. Nobody gives a rats ass about your cat. #Cavilisclark".

Gunn would then respond: "It'd be great if at the very least you knew how to spell an actor's name if you were going to be so outraged."

As much as it pains me to come to terms with Cavill's DCU ousting, I think it's time for fans to finally move forward and support what Gunn and Safran have in store for the franchise. I mean, the decisions they've already made are beyond our control but I still remain hopeful that they know what they're doing.

As it stands, details surrounding James Gunn's Superman reboot film are still being kept under wraps.
