Even the 39-year-old star took to Instagram to formally announce that we'll see more of his version of the character and it was only a matter of time before Warner Bros. Discovery made things official. However, a recent report cast doubt on the rumored Man of Steel 2 the production company was reportedly working on.

According to a scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, several DCU projects are no longer happening over at DC Studios and that includes the sequel to the 2013 Zack Snyder flick which launched the franchise.

Days following the report, The Den of Geeks tweeted out that James Gunn doesn't like Cavill. While he didn't go into detail regarding the DC Studios co-CEO's alleged disdain towards the actor, Gunn would immediately dismiss the malicious rumor, saying that it's "false".

The Den of Geeks would obviously stand by his claims, saying that a lot of people have reached out to him confirming that Gunn isn't a big fan of the British star. Unfazed, the director fired back and did some trolling of his own. James wrote: "So weird. You seemed so plugged in! Anyway, I just had forty people reach out to me to say you just got kicked out of your Mom’s basement. So sorry, man."

We don't know for sure what the future holds for Cavill's Superman but Gunn insisted that DC's flagship character is their top priority moving forward.

Meanwhile, Man of Steel 2 has reportedly been scrapped at DC Studios.
