James Gunn Comments on When The Suicide Squad First Images, Trailer Will be Released

We already know that The Suicide Squad managed to finish filming before the Coronavirus outbreak shutdowns. But when are we going to see the first images and a trailer from the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe flick? Director James Gunn has just offered an update but it's not a very optimistic one.

A fan recently reached out to Gunn on Twitter asking whether they were close to releasing the first teaser for The Suicide Squad. Interestingly, the filmmaker pointed out that although filming was completed, there's still a lot of work that needs to be done in the movie. Take a look at his response below.

"I wish we were but, as you might imagine, although editing #TheSuicideSquad has been pretty smooth in the time of quarantine (I'm working on the cut right now), there are a lot of other factors slowed - some of those related to releasing images, trailers, etc.," Gunn wrote.

It shouldn't be a surprise that post-production is slow. After all, the crew of The Suicide Squad are probably working remotely and progress could take several days. In addition to that, Gunn might not be willing to drop the first images yet unless everything looks exactly how he's planning it to be. Hopefully, we'll get a positive update in the next few weeks.

The Suicide Squad will star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. The film is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
