Thanks to James Gunn, the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy has become one of the most successful series of films within the MCU and there is no doubt that he has become one of the important figures in the comic book genre as he is now leading DC Studios.

The Guardians of the Galaxy team themselves have also become beloved characters amongst many fans and the general audience and a lot of them were delighted when they ended up teaming up with the Avengers in both Infinity War and Endgame.

The space-based team has brought unique skills and perspective to the MCU that we don't usually see from the Earth-based heroes and some fans have started the debate about who prevails more in a hypothetical fight between the two teams.

Now, Gunn has his own take on the debate and his answer will not surprise you at all.

During his appearance at Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast (via ComicBook.com), Gunn responded to a fan question regarding who would win in a fight between the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers.

As expected, the director answered by claiming that the Guardians of the Galaxy can "easily" defeat the Avengers in a fight and that they have an advantage over them due to their technology.

"Listen, I always thought that the Guardians would beat the s**t out of the Avengers easily. Like, it's just they're from outer space. They have technology that is pretty advanced, so it would be hard to beat them," he said.

Considering that he helmed the entire trilogy feature the team, it's not really surprising to hear his claim that the space-based heroes will win in a fight against the Avengers.

While you may disagree with Gunn's take on the debate, you also have to understand that he is the person responsible for bringing the team to the MCU and his perspective will always be different from the fans aside from the obvious bias.

From a more objective and practical standpoint, it is hard to tell which team might end up prevailing in a fight since we really haven't seen them battle with a definitive outcome and, unfortunately, we might never see that anytime soon.
