James Gunn Apologizes For Hurting Avengers: Infinity War Fans

Earlier this week Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn revealed Groot's ( Vin Diesel) exact words to Rocket (Bradley Cooper)when he disintegrated and turned into dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Gunn simply meant to be informative by letting fans know that Groot called Rocket "Dad" while turning into dust, the director's little revelation broke fans hearts and now his out to apologize.

Taking to Twitter, Gunn reached out to fans to ask for forgiveness for making everyone cry. Though the director knew that the answer was sad, Gunn didn't know that fans would react the way they did when they learned what Groot told Rocket after Thanos' finger-snapping massacre in Infinity War.

"I knew my answer to the spoiler question last night was touching and sad, but I really did not expect to wake up to so many tweets of people telling me they're crying. Sorry for that if you're at work or whatever. But it means a lot to me you love the characters as much as I do," the director wrote in his post.

Groot and Rocket have always been together, even before debuting in the original Guardians of the Galaxy. After the original Groot sacrificed his life to save Rocket, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax (Dave Bautista) in the film, fans have seen the Guardians work with a growing Groot.

First, a baby in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans get to see Groot as an angsty and rebellious teen-ager in Infinity War. Despite his many rebellious moments with Rocket and the rest of the Guardians, it hurts to hear Groot calling out for his father at the end of the film.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
