Spider-Man Star James Franco to Testify in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Lawsuit

It looks like James Franco is going to be busy soon but it's not because of a new film or TV show. The Spider-Man star has just been confirmed to testify in the lawsuit Johnny Depp has filed against Amber Heard. The news comes shortly after Franco broke his silence and finally addressed the sexual misconduct allegations against him by several women.

According to Page Six, Johnny Depp's lawyers have served James Franco a subpoena requesting him to testify in Depp's defamation lawsuit against Heard. Franco has now been involved in the case after CCTV footage showed him stepping into an elevator with Heard just after she fought with Depp in which Depp allegedly gave her a black eye. Franco is expected to face questions about whether he saw any signs, or had any knowledge, of the alleged abuse.

This isn't the first time that James Franco has been involved with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The former Pirates of the Caribbean star had previously accused Franco of having an affair with Heard when he was still married to the Aquaman actress. Although it is unclear if the affair is true, Depp's lawyers believe Franco would have noticed if Heard had any bruises confirming Depp's alleged abuse.

James Franco's involvement in the lawsuit is only one of his many controversies this year. The Pineapple Express star has been staying under the radar after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct. Earlier this month, Franco finally addressed the allegations, confirming that he slept with some of his Studio 4 students. However, he denied the more serious accusations before stating that he settled the lawsuit to put an end to it all.

Franco is scheduled to sit for the deposition early next year. The trial is set to take place in April of 2022.
