James Cameron Teases Darker Na’vi To Be Introduced in Avatar 3

James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water continues to set the record straight last year, and seeing as this sets the bar for the upcoming 3 Avatar films, Cameron is determined to introduce more characters and Pandora regions. In fact, the Avatar creator teases that the darker side of the Na’vi will be introduced in Avatar 3.

Recently speaking with 20 Minutes, Cameron details what we can expect on Avatar 3, teasing that there will be more different cultures set to be introduced, summing up to be a showcase of “another angle” of the Na’vi. Check out Cameron’s full comment below:

“[In the next movie, viewers can expect to see] different cultures from those I have already shown. The fire will be represented by the “Ash People.” I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples.”

In comparison to Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar 3 is filled with story arcs for the previously introduced characters. Cameron describes it as “a way to set the table before serving the meal.”

“In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 is received, if it finds its audience.”

Previously, Spider actor Jack Champion did also lead on how “collectively,” the Avatar franchise “will each get better” as we get to see more regions of Pandora and more introduction to its culture overall, which when the actor compares it to Avatar 2, Avatar 3 onwards will be “even better.”

Avatar 3 is currently slated for release on December 20, 2024.
