James Bond and Highlander Star Sean Connery Passes Away at Age 90


2020 is turning out to be a truly sad year for cinema as another film legend has left our midst. Former James Bond actor Sean Connery has been confirmed to have passed away at the age of 90.

According to BBC, Sean Connery died peacefully in his sleep while in the Bahamas with his family, His son Jason Connery revealed that his father has been "unwell for some time."

"We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time," the younger Connery said in a statement. "A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor."

Sean Connery was born on August 25, 1930, in Fountainbridge in Edinburgh. He first took on the role of James Bond in Dr No in 1962 before reprising the part in five other official films including From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Diamonds Are Forever. Connery is also the only Bond actor to portray 007 in an unofficial movie Never Say Never Again.

In addition to the James Bond movies, Sean Connery was known for beloved films like Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and The Hunt for Red October. His last film role was in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
