Jake Gyllenhaal basically confirmed to anyone and everyone who partakes in social media that he will indeed be Mysterio for July's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Rumors have been rampant about the acclaimed actor joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Spider-Man villain and it's nice seeing this be official, albeit in a jokey way. Funnily enough, the joke is on Gyllenhaal as the actor is getting trolled by some of Marvel's actors for his post.
When Gyllenhaal said that he would not be Spider-Man for Far From Home, this elicited responses from Ryan Reynolds, Marc Ruffalo, Zendaya, and Spidey himself, Tom Holland. They all made fun of the Prince of Persia actor, with Reynolds jokingly saying that he wasn't Spidey either and Holland confirming that he is, in fact, Spider-Man.
Naturally, seeing a bunch of celebrities troll each other has gotten the attention of many fans who love witnessing these kinds of stories. It is cool seeing these A-list celebrities acting like a bunch of normal people on social media and here's hoping that this kind of friendly trolling will continue from here on out.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and is set after Avengers 4, which has everyone's interest. Many are expecting to see Michael Keaton reprise his role as The Vulture and maybe even the MCU debut of Scorpion, though it seems like Gyllenhaal's Mysterio is taking priority. This isn't a huge problem since Mysterio is one of the wallcrawler's most popular villains.
Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out on July 5, 2019.
