How cool was Jackie Chan Adventures? I used to watch it whenever I got the chance as a kid; Martial Arts master Jackie Chan is planning on doing a reboot of the series, and you can expect it to come out sometime this year.
According to THR, the series will be called J-Team: All New Jackie Chan Adventures, and it will be focused on viewers aged 5–10. Like the original series, each episode will end with a live-action scene with Jackie Chan giving a positive message to kids. Chan explains:
"It's meant to help young children to do things they don't always like to do — like, don't look at your phone for too long, remember to brush your teeth, respect your elders, pick up the trash. If you just tell them that, sometimes children won't listen, but through comedy and action, then they will start to follow."
The series is said to be produced in China, and is aiming to be the next big thing. Jackie Chan, however, isn't really concerned with the money, and believes that this new series will be a good way to get Chinese culture out to the world.
"They have so many plans. For me, I just want to make a cartoon for the children around the world. [This show] is not about making money — I have a lot of money already. Today, what I'm really doing with this cartoon is, I can show to the world, it used to be Jackie's adventures from America, but these days, everything is made in China. I hope to use my influence to bring Chinese culture to the world."
The series was a ton of fun for me when I was a kid! Aside from the kung fu action, the series also had some fun lore with the magical talismans that granted the users different abilities. Plus, the series' main designer was Jeff Matsuda, the same guy who designed characters for 2004's The Batman series. Hopefully this J-Team series will be just as great.
