Star Wars and Star Trek filmmaker J.J. Abrams has just recently announced a third Star Wars standalone movie as part of Saturday Night Live's most recent skit.

The video which was recently released on Saturday Night Live's YouTube channel starts off with Abram's announcement. According to the Star Wars director, Lucasfilm is making a standalone following in the legacy of Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story - The Most Eisley Five. Abrams tells the audience that the film's going to be released in the summer of 2019 and then the video moves on to offer Star Wars fans a sneak peek at the "movie."

The first glimpse of The Mos Eisley Five has a mix of characters. There's a Wookie that's supposedly Chewie, a Jedi Knight which might be SNL's version of Mace Windu, a smuggler which is supposed to be Han Solo, Rey and the skit's version of R2-D2 in the colors of BB-8. It's an oddball mix really, but the group confidently brave out to negotiate the release of a Rebel Alliance pilot held captive by Goba the Hutt.

It's a pretty funny sketch, playing on the old Star Wars trope where all of the franchise's characters eem to understand all of the languages of every alien and droid in Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away.

While The Mos Eisly Five is obviously a joke, it's a pretty fun way to spend the time waiting for Solo: A Star Wars Story to hit cinemas.

Solo premieres on May 25, 2018.
