Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake was a huge success, not only gaining critical praise and making a ton of money but also garnering various awards and nominations. The remake has been nominated for Game of the Year by The Game Awards, along with titles like Control, Outer Worlds, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so it's clear that Capcom did a good job. Now, rumors of a Resident Evil 3 remake have surfaced and fans are hoping it becomes a reality.
It all started with YouTube personality SpawnWave, who has gotten correct predictions before and claims that there is a remake of this game being worked on for a 2020 release. Then, the folks at Eurogamer also claimed that their sources have confirmed a Resident Evil 3 remake, which is something a lot of people are going to be excited for.
Resident Evil 3 is a landmark entry in this iconic franchise, reintroducing Jill Valentine to fans, debuting Nemesis, who is still one of the biggest Resident Evil monsters, and gave us one of the bigger settings to explore back in the day. If this remake ends up being like the Resident Evil 2 one, meaning impressive graphics and Resident Evil 4-style gameplay, then this shouldn't be a problem.
Capcom themselves have not confirmed if the news was true but considering the sources we have, this could end up happening. Hopefully, we'll see something during The Game Awards but let's wait and see.
As of this writing, Resident Evil 2 remake is now available on PS4 and Xbox One.
