Is the Ishura Light Novel Over?
The Ishura light novel is not yet over and is still ongoing as of this article's writing, which means there’s so much more content to look forward to in the future.
The action fantasy light novel series has yet to show any hints or signs that it could be ending anytime soon, so old and new fans should rejoice about its current status.
Contrary to initial beliefs, Ishura is not an original anime. It is actually based on a web novel series penned by Keiso at Shosetsuka ni Naro and Kakuyomu, both known in Japan as novel posting websites.
Later, ASCII Media Works acquired the web novel and published it with illustrations by none other than Kureta under their Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint.
The Ishura light novel then inspired a manga adaptation with illustrations by Meguri, which started in March 2021 in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. It is still ongoing, having released three volumes.
How Many Volumes Does the Ishura Light Novel Have?
So far, the Ishura light novel has nine Japanese volumes and seven English volumes in circulation.
While ASCII Media Works and their Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint are in charge of the light novel’s distribution in Japan, Yen Press has the license for its English distribution.
In addition, Yen Press’ imprint, Yen Audio, also released an Ishura audiobook in English in October 2023, which features the voices of Emily Bauer (Megumi Morisato in Ah! My Goddess) and Chris Guerrero (Senya in Bucchigiri).
The first volume, The New Demon King War, was released on September 17, 2019, while volume nine was released in Japan on February 16, 2024.
Meanwhile, volume six in English will arrive on March 19, 2024, while volume seven will be released on July 23, 2024.

To read Ishura in English, fans should purchase the series in digital or paperback form from online manga retailers like Amazon, Books-A-Million, Kinokuniya, Barnes & Noble, Indigo, and the Crunchyroll Store.
