It has been nearly a decade since the Yona of the Dawn anime premiered. For fans who have not been keeping up with the series, they may be wondering if the Yona of the Dawn is finished.
While there’s still no word on plans for a new season for the anime, the manga’s creator did share an update regarding the manga’s final arc, implying that the series will conclude soon.
Is the Yona of the Dawn Manga Finished? Current Status
Yona of the Dawn is a fantasy romance manga by Mizuho Kusanagi that began serialization back in August 2009. Since then, the series has continued to get new chapters in the HanaYume magazine by Hakusensha.
The series got a boost in popularity thanks to the anime adaptation by studio Pierrot (of Bleach and Naruto fame) that aired between fall 2014 and winter 2015.
Even though the anime has not been renewed for a new season, the manga has continued to get new chapters, meaning its epic fantasy story is still expanding.
For reference, because of how long the manga has been serialized, Yona of the Dawn already has 43 volumes in Japan.
The manga is published in English by Viz Media, with 41 volumes already being released. The 42nd volume is also already set to come out in September 2024.
Soon, it seems like this shojo manga is gearing up for an epic conclusion, as mentioned by its creator.
Yona of the Dawn Manga Creator Shares Final Arc Update
Recently, series creator Mizuho Kusanagi revealed via her personal X (formerly Twitter) account that the Yona of the Dawn manga is now in its final arc.
Currently, the series’ arc is called the Emissaries Arc by fans, and it started in the manga’s 200th chapter.
Based on Kusanagi’s post, this will be the manga’s final arc, though it’s not clear how long it will be.
When Will Yona of the Dawn End? Our Predictions
While it’s clear that Yona of the Dawn will end sooner rather than later, it’s tough to predict exactly how long the final arc will be.
It’s common for many manga to have their final arc be their longest. If that’s the case here, it’s possible that the manga will not conclude by the end of 2024.
It’s more likely that the manga will end sometime in 2025, potentially around the middle of that year to give the creator more time to create a satisfying conclusion.
