We've all have had guilty pleasures when it comes to books and films – and let's be honest, we've judged and have been judged unreasonably for it. To understand this, no example is better than The Twilight Saga, which truly epitomizes the early late 2000s and 2010s pop culture, for better or for worse. We've loved it or hated – and sometimes both – and now it's coming on one of the most popular streaming services! So, when is Twilight coming to Netflix, and when will it release?

Twilight Saga Netflix Confirmed Release Date

Twilight hasn't been on Netflix since 2017, meaning that fans didn't have many opportunities to rewatch it without paying something extra by renting the films on Amazon Prime Video for instance.

This is going to change very soon, however; for US viewers, Twilight has a new Netflix release date. In a recent announcement, Netflix revealed that the supernatural romance is going to return on the 16th of July 2021.

Summer is always a bit of a nostalgic season, during which we have more time and tend to return to comfort reads and watches, so this feels oddly appropriate. Whatever your feelings about the saga it's going to be easier than ever to return to it – or perhaps check it out for the first time if you still don't know what all that fuss was about.

Which Twilight Movies Will Be on Netflix?

There are four Twilight books, published in as many years. These gave birth not to four but five movies, to the 2010s trend of splitting the adaptation of a book series' final instalment into two movies – whether it needed it or not.

Therefore, the movie saga involves the following movies, all of which will make it to Netflix on July 16:

Twilight (2008)

New Moon (2009)

Eclypse (2010)

Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011)

Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012)

For those of us who went through a Twilight phase and grew out of it, it's normal to have mixed feelings. Few series have received such extremes of love and hate – and questions of whether either is deserved.

Truth be told, Twilight is a problematic series in many ways, although there are some good things about it too. Perhaps the movie series' arrival on Netflix means it's time to talk honestly about the movies' problematic aspects, ensuring the characters are not considered as role models or dream partners by a new generation, without unnecessarily hating on those who enjoy the series.
