Pearl Thorne is a new character we meet in the spinoff series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The first two episodes give us a glimpse of her relationship with Rick Grimes. But is Thorne evil in The Ones Who Live? Here's what we know.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, so proceed with caution.

Who is Pearl Thorne?

Before the outbreak, Pearl Thorne (played by Lesley-Ann Brandt) was a Naval woman from South Africa. At the time of the outbreak, she was trying her new luck in a poker game in Las Vegas.

In The Ones Who Live, Thorne is introduced as a consignee, along with Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln). This is a designation that newcomers have before they are allowed to enter the Civic Republic's hidden city.

Before allowing access, consignees need to render six years of service defending the city from the zombies.

Both were encouraged by Lt. Col. Donald Okafor (played by Craig Tate) to join as soldiers.

In episode 3, Thorne raises questions about her loyalty to Rick when she tries to shoot Michonne (played by Danai Gurira).

This speaks volumes about Thorne's steadfast dedication to her goals since she sees Michonne as interfering with her mission.

She also does not fully trust Michonne, which explains why she always has her knife ready while speaking to her.

So when she tries to shoot Michonne, Rick obviously stops her and will not allow her to do so. She scolds Rick for interrupting her from her mission.

In the first two episodes of the spinoff series, Thorne is presented as one of Rick's allies. But with the release of episode 3, we can't help but wonder if Thorne is evil in The Ones Who Live.

With her promotion in the series, we get to see Thorne as someone who looks out for herself. While she did not immediately see eye-to-eye as Okafor's vision as a CRM rebel, Thorne is now trying to follow in his footsteps.

In a secret meeting with Rick, Thorne tells him that she is dedicated to improving the military faction. And to do that, she will not let anyone get in the way of her goals.

Despite her friendship with Rick, it seems like Thorne will prevent him from escaping.

Of course, she isn't as forgiving as Okafor was. And she sure doesn't plan on taking chances with people who might derail her plans to change the CRM, even if it is Rick.
