Is This New BTS Shot from Avatar 2 Teasing an Underwater Mount?

James Cameron's Avatar, despite being just one film, had built one vast, expansive world in the form of Pandora. Though we got to see the skies in the first movie, the sequel is set to bring us underwater, and we have a new BTS image possibly teasing the underwater mounts that this new generation of characters are going to ride.

Check it out:

As mentioned in the caption, the character in the photo is supposed to be Lo'ak, and it's been confirmed by the official page that this is the son of Jake Sully and Neytiri. With Jake finding his first mount being a right of passage in the first film, I have a feeling it will be the same with this movie--whatever Lo'ak is going to be riding.

For now, things have been pretty quiet when it comes to the plot of the Avatar sequels. We know that they've been shooting for years and that a lot of the sequences will have something to do with water, but as for the main plot, we're still pretty clueless. Are the humans going to come back? Is this more of an internal struggle this time? Why does Cameron need five movies to tell this story?

Hopefully, we get some big reveals soon as the movie is set to come out later next year. My guess is that we'll get our first teaser in December, but I'm also crossing my fingers we get some kind of reveal in July during Comic-Con@Home.

The first Avatar sequel is set to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2021.
